Meghan Markle’s Postpartum Workout Schedule Is Super Chill
Meghan Markle is enjoying life as a new mom, and apparently she is in no hurry to hit the gym hard. After all, the Duchess of Sussex just gave birth to baby Archie a month ago, and she is said to be embracing the changes to her body. But fitness has always been a top priority for her, and according to sources, her postpartum routine consists of “gentle exercises.”
“It’s been a natural embracing of motherhood, and with that has come a pretty gentle routine,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told ET. “She hasn’t been in any hurry to get back in shape. It’s only four weeks really since the birth and she’s been taking that exercise regime very gently.”
Nicholl continued: “I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime — nothing too strenuous.” Markle’s mother Doria is a certified yoga instructor, and she reportedly took up postpartum and baby yoga so she could teach her daughter some moves before heading back to the United States. Nicholl also told the publication that Markle enjoys taking walks around Windsor Great Park with her family.
While Markle was an avid runner before giving birth, Nicholl insists this is all she has been doing. “No hard training, no weights,” she said. And although yoga may not torch calories, it does provide a host of benefits for both the body and mind, including reduced stress, increased metabolism, improved muscle strength, and better cardiovascular health. Walking outdoors, or “earthing” as it’s also called, has been shown reduce stress and inflammation in the body as well.
“She’s enjoying this time. She’s being gentle to herself,” Nicholl said. As she should be. With all the pressure on celebrity moms to “bounce back” after having children, it’s refreshing to hear that Her Royal Highness is taking it easy and putting her happiness first.
