Think you’ve found your soul mate? Sensing an innermost connection with someone is not as simple as feeling that fluttery sensation in your stomach. (Though the absence of this distinct physical symptom can be just as telling.) When you’re with the person you’re meant to be with, you’re in sync with them — both body and mind. Ahead, spiritual medium Erika Gabriel shares five signs that he or she may be the one.
The feelings are mutual
Let’s cut straight to the chase: If they are not texting you back, they are not your soul mate. That may sound harsh, sure, but when someone is your soul mate, there’s no questioning whether or not he/she is interested in you. “So many people I talk to tell me, ‘Oh, he was my soul mate, but he broke my heart.’ If that happened, he wasn’t your soul mate,” says Gabriel. A soul mate is someone you aren’t constantly making excuses for. They will want to be with you as much as you want to be with them — and you won’t have to convince them otherwise.
The timing works
When it’s meant to be, everything will fall into place as far as various life stages and phases go; there won’t be any interference from external factors that don’t line up, explains Gabriel. In other words, if he/she is still into partying all night, every night,,,,, while you’re ready to pop out a baby, this is likely not the one. Granted, that doesn’t mean that things might not work out down the road, points out Gabriel, but it does mean that right now this is not the person you are supposed to be with.
There’s no major conflict
Of course, it’s not always going to be all rainbows and butterflies, but at the core, you and your soul mate aren’t going to have any major differences, says Gabriel. You don’t have to love the same toppings on your pizza or want to watch the same shows on Netflix, but deep down you both have a common ground, an easy flow, and an understanding about most big things, she adds. Think values and goals.
It’s not super intense
There’s nothing wrong with an intense and fiery relationship filled with passionate ups and downs, but that’s not usually what you will experience with a true soul mate, says Gabriel. That’s not to say that you can’t have amazing chemistry — and great sex — with your soul mate, but there should be an ease and a calmness to your interactions.
You’re in a good place
Still texting your ex or hooking up with random people left and right? No judgement at all, but you’ll only meet your soul mate once you’re at a place in your life where you’re ready for that, says Gabriel. “In order to be ready to meet your soul mate, you first have to be your own soul mate and detach from the old stuff that no longer suits you,” she explains. Once you’re emotionally available and giving off those types of vibrations and that type of energy, you will attract the same.
