Royal wedding fans rejoice: Plans are being made to put Meghan Markle’s wedding dress on display to the public.

According to the Daily Express, sources inside the Palace say the dress will be displayed at Windsor Castle, where His and Her Royal Highness wed on May 19. While details have yet to be confirmed, officials are apparently in discussions about making the Givenchy gown the centerpiece of an exhibition by the end of the year.

For her ceremony, Markle wore a bespoke gown crafted by British designer Clare Waight Keller, who is at the helm of the luxury label and became the first female artistic director in the history of the French fashion house. Keller told InStyle that designing the dress was “very collaborative” and “genuinely one of the most special experiences I have ever had.”

While seemingly simple, the A-line gown with a wide boatneck, long sleeves, sculpted waist, and triple silk organza underskirt was the epitome of elegance. Fashion expert Dawn Del Russo told Money magazine that haute couture gowns like this can be priced as high as $340,000.

After Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in 2011, her gown, which was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, went on display at Buckingham Palace, and more than 350,000 people visited in the first six weeks. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales went to charities chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

“We’re thrilled that so many people have visited Buckingham Palace this summer in what looks to be a record year. The Royal Wedding attracted worldwide interest, so it’s only natural that many people want to come to see the State Rooms, some of which were used for the wedding reception, and take a closer look at The Duchess of Cambridge’s dress – which celebrates great British design,” said a Royal Collection spokesperson at the time.

Considering millions of people worldwide tuned in to watch as Markle married Prince Harry earlier this year, it’s safe to assume Markle’s wedding gown may draw in an even bigger crowd.
