Update 2/15/2018: The list of full list of ingredients can be found on the company website.

It seems every few weeks, the beauty industry introduces a new look that demands attention. From eyebrows that have been styled into crazy shapes to nail art that belongs in an art gallery, the artistic innovation of beauty buffs knows no bounds. While some of these experiments stick around, turning into trends and top-selling products, others simply captivate the Internet before being forgotten. So, what’s next?

The latest in a string of offbeat trends is teeth that shimmer in a rainbow spectrum of colors. CHRŌM, a company out of New York City, has created a temporary tooth polish that allows you to paint your teeth as you would your nails. “We see this becoming commonplace — everything from a club vibe to an everyday workplace fashion accent,” David Silverstein, the brand’s creator, told the Daily Post, adding that it’s already big in the festival scene. Natch.

Currently, there are 14 shades available, ranging from soft pastels to metallic “dusts.” The company also recently launched a Glitterati overcoat collection made with BioGlitz, a non-toxic, plant-based, biodegradable glitter. Each tooth polish can be used to color in all of your chompers or to highlight just one or two accent teeth. “Perhaps you go to work with one tooth [that] matches your nail polish or your hair color,” Silverstein suggested. That’s one way to get noticed in your morning meeting, but okay, moving on.

Formulated with help from dentists, the polish is made from a grain alcohol base and pigments that are similar to food coloring, both of which the company says are compliant with the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act. The polish is said to last up to 24 hours without smudging or fading — even through eating and drinking — and the color won’t stain your teeth. Also important? It’s tasteless. To remove the polish, you simply scratch it off or brush your teeth with toothpaste.

The question remains, will colored teeth ever catch on? Or is this a look reserved for social media? As one makeup artists told The Cut, “We’re at a time where anything goes…this is fun, this is fashion, this is me.”
